Duration of the Huangling Dome Activity in the Northern Margin of the South China Continent: Insight From Integration of Zircon (U–Th)/He Dating and Thermal Modeling

The Huangling dome, which is one of the largest tectonic domes in South China continent, was formed between Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous, when regional compression eventually replaced by extension. This raises an issue about whether dome generated compression, extension or both. study integrates single-grain zircon (U–Th)/He (ZHe) dating with thermal modeling to better constrain formation process dome. measured ZHe ages samples collected from adjacent synclines are all younger than depositional crystallization sampled rocks, western eastern sides have much older mean those synclines' cores. They make clear complex interactions uplift, denudation, heating processes during formation. For simplicity, we developed one-dimensional heat-conduction models that cover a wide range exhumation scenarios (assuming uplift rate equals denudation rate) within interval 152.1–121.4 Ma. These were solved searched for predictions ages. best fast decrease time constant rate, indicative early shaping compressional setting.
